UNIFORM DRESS CODE GIRLS Uniform Jumpers – either solid navy; in the style of Land’s End, P.J. McEvoy plaid that you already own or our new plaid ‘blue/gold’ offered through FrenchToast. Skirts – solid navy, solid khaki, P.J. McEvoy plaid that you already own or our new plaid ‘blue/gold’ offered through FrenchToast. Skirts must be no shorter than 2” above the knee. Skorts/Shorts – either solid navy or solid khaki. Shorts may be worn only from the start of the school year to October 15th and then again from April 15th to the end of the school year, with one exception; girls are permitted to wear ‘walking shorts’ with heavy stockings covering their legs throughout the winter season. No ‘short’ shorts are permitted. Pants – either solid navy or solid khaki dress pants; there will be no restrictions on outside pockets. Pants must be worn with a belt. Solid khaki or solid navy Capri pants are permitted from the start of school until October 15th and again at the end of school beginning April 15th. Solid khaki or navy corduroys may be worn from October 15th to April 15th. No low-rise pants are permitted. Blouses/Shirts – either solid navy or solid white turtlenecks, golf shirts, button down oxfords or Peter Pan collared shirts. Also, Chambray shirts may be worn. Short or long sleeved to your comfort. Absolutely no skin can be showing between bottom of shirt and top of pants. All shirts must be solid colors, no stripes or second colors showing. No t-shirts of a non-dress code color are to show under clothing. ALL SHIRTS MUST BE TUCKED IN AT ALL TIMES. No cleavage is allowed to show. BOYS Pants – either solid navy or khaki dress pants; there will be no restrictions on outside pockets. Pants must be worn with a belt. Khaki or navy corduroys may be worn from October 15th to April 15th. No excessively baggy or low-slung pants permitted. Shirts – solid navy or solid white turtlenecks, golf shirts or oxfords. Also, chambray shirts may be worn. Short or long sleeved to your comfort. All shirts must be solid colors, no stripes or second colors showing. No t-shirts of a non-dress code color are to show under clothing. ALL SHIRTS MUST BE TUCKED IN AT ALL TIMES.
Shorts – either solid navy or solid khaki with the same restrictions as girls. These may be worn from the start of the school year to October 15th and then again from April 15th to the end of the school year. Any shirts worn by either girls or boys can have the school monogram on them. Land’s End will do this for you.
Solid navy or white sweaters (pullover or cardigan) and sweater vests are permitted. Land’s End will monogram these for you. School monogrammed royal or white golf shirts that you may have purchased prior to this code going into effect will be permitted. Shoes – No sandals are permitted. Gym Class – Students MUST wear sneakers/tennis shoes to attend gym class; NO STREET SHOES will be permitted. If your child does not have appropriate shoes for class they will be required to sit out during their assigned class time. Immaculate Conception School spirit clothing will be used for gym class for all grades; however, grades K-4 are permitted to wear dress code clothing instead of sprit clothing, if they so desire. Only sweat pants, sweatshirts & t-shirts with I.C. logo will be permitted. Monogram on gym shorts will be optional; however, if shorts are not monogrammed they must be solid royal blue to match t-shirts and sweatshirts. A spirit clothing sale will be organized at the beginning of each school year; at this time spirit clothing may be purchased. Hair – Boys Hair must be neat and no longer than the top of the shirt collar; bangs must be above the eyebrows. Also, no “outlandish” styles or unnatural colors are permitted. Boys must be clean-shaven – no facial hair. Hair – Girls No “outlandish” styles or colors are permitted. Jewelry – Pierced earrings are permitted for girls ONLY. Earrings are not permitted to ‘dangle’ below the earlobe; hoop earrings are not permitted, no matter the size. Other body piercing is not permitted, such as eyebrows, nose or tongue. NO piercings will be permitted for boys. Make-up- The wearing of make-up is not permitted. However, girls may wear lipgloss. CASUAL DAY – Please refer to the school calendar for Dress Code “B” Dress Code “B” will be in effect when stated on the monthly school calendar. On these days, more casual clothes may be worn. These include jeans and t-shirts. Nothing vulgar, offensive or provocative is permitted. Other items not permitted are ‘off the shoulder’ shirts, tank tops (sleeveless) or crop tops, oversize shirts, torn jeans, mini skirts or short shorts. All shirts must be tucked in. No cleavage is allowed to be showing. All clothing must be of modest length. Method of enforcement 1. First Offense: Verbal conference with student. 2. Second Offense: Parents/guardians are notified. Dress Code is sent home and returned next day, signed by parent/guardian. 3. Third Offense: Conference with parent/guardian is requested. Final Note There are many details and styles of clothing that cannot be covered in the dress code. We hope that students and parents/guardians understand not only the “letter”, but also the “spirit” of the dress code and choose clothing that is appropriate for a student attending Immaculate Conception School. The Administration maintains the right to make the final determination concerning the appropriateness of a students’ attire.
