Investigating Muscles
The eighth graders are diving into the complexities of the human body. To enhance their understanding of how muscles work they disected chicken wings and carefully observed the tendons, ligaments, and how the muscles contracted and relaxed.

A Hurricane Swept Through 5th Grade
As an end of unit inquiry project, the fifth graders designed and built their own hurricane resistant buildings. The buildings were then tested with the schools leaf blower on high speed and I am glad to say, they all survived.

Volcanic Activity

The seventh grade has been studying how volcanoes erupt and the different types of volcanoes. To better understand how they affect the landscape around them the students constructed and then erupted their own volcano.

The 8th graders have been learning all about the atmosphere so far this year. Lately their studies have focused on wind. They constructed anemometers out of K’NEX and plastic cups to measure the wind speed here at school in revolutions per minute. So far there has not been to many windy days to get a good reading, but we all know sooner or later a big storm will come our way!
